Websites that are created without online methods to drive traffic their way will sit in limbo forever, with their owners pouring cash into them and wondering why they have no visitors.  If you own a website, you have to do something to drive lots of traffic your way. A great way to do this is to get your website onto the 1st page of the major search engines like Google and Bing. To do this, you need to do keyword research and provide good content on your site.

Getting on Page One of Google

In the past, it was very difficult and almost impossible for the average online entrepreneur to get ranked on the first page of Google, without the use of paid methods. However, things have changed in the last few years. The constant evolution of information technology has changed the way search engines function. This evolution in technology gives virtually anyone, with the proper keyword research and good content, the ability to get their business, website or products positioned on the first page of Google and other highly respected search engines for a selected keyword. There are 3 things you need to consider:

1) Keyword Research

Keyword Research, Google Keyword Research Tool Keyword research involves the selection of specific words or phrases used in your good content that will be sought out by the search engines. These words or phrases will vary depending on the type of business or website you have. However, there is one thing they all have in common, they will be competing with other keywords and phrases sought by the search engines.

You need to know which keywords and phrases make your content unique to the search engines. Without proper keyword research you will waste a lot of time, effort and dollars. You will want to select those keywords with the lowest competition and highest monthly use on the internet.  This can be done with a keyword research tool.

 2) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Good Content Creation

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of your content from the eyes of the major search engines. SEO is a strategy that must be taken into account when preparing your content. Think of it as, “custom tailoring your content” to be the most attractive and effective response to the keywords you have selected.

If you are creating a URL Domain Name for your content (ie: when creating a website or webpage) it is important to use the selected keywords here as well. In addition to keyword research and good SEO practice, it is also important to create good content that can be posted on your website, blog and other high authority sites and directories.

Good Keywords, Keyword Research and Keyword Density

Good Keywords, Keyword Research, Keyword Density

While writing your good content, you need to include those words that you selected during your keyword research.  This article is an good example of keyword research, good content and Keyword Density.  Generally, 1-2% of the total word count should consist of the selected keywords.

Let’s take an 800 word article with selected keyword phrase “good content”. The phrase “good content” should appear appear no more than 15-18 times throughout the body of the article. You also want to make sure your content is between 400-1000 words in length, is informative, valuable and easy to understand. Another great trick is to use the keywords in the title and in supportive heading tags within your content!

The main idea is to create good content that is unique to you. This is where our creative minds are allowed to express themselves, allowing those who can relate to you, to connect with you. Those who read your content, find it valuable and can relate to it will most likely follow you on more than one occasion.

Search engines love unique and up to date content, which is great news for creative entrepreneurs who are looking for new ways to expand their business via the internet. Once indexed by the search engines, your good content can be viewed by those who are searching for the keywords you selected. Good content can be written for any subject on which you have knowledge, interest and which you have researched.

3) Distribute Your Good Content

After you have created your good content, you will need to post it, to be viewed on the World Wide Web. You can post your content on blogs, article and video directories, squidoo lenses, hub-pages, and other high authority locations.  The main thing is to get your good content out there, where the search engines will find it, ultimately driving laser targeted traffic your way.

Once your content is on the first page of Google or Bing for a given keyword or phrase, people will read your content more often. The result: you can then begin directing big-time, laser targeted traffic to your website or blog.
